"As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God."

Consider the parable of the talents found in Matthew 25:14-30.  The lord over the three servants meted out the talents to each of them based on how He knew those servants would use those talents. To one he gave ten talents, to another he gave five, and to the last servant he gave one talent. The faithful servants were able to double their talents by investing them. The unfaithful servant, whom his lord called wicked and slothful, buried his talent and refused to use it to increase his lord's kingdom. Therefore, the talent he refused to invest was taken away from him.
God has given each of us many wonderful gifts and talents that He expects us to use for His Kingdom.  As the Lord's children, of course we benefit from these abilities but, it was never God's intention for us to use these gifts for our own selfish ambition. Paul admonishes us in Phil 2:4 to "Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others." We are stewards over the grace that God has given us- stewards, not owners. Because our gifts came from God, to Him they belong and to Him they must return.

There are a few lessons to be learned here.  First, God has given every human being on this earth gifts and talents that He expects them to use in order to further His Kingdom.  Second, as we use these gifts and talents, they will multiply.  Third, if we refuse to use these abilities, eventually, we will lose them.  This is not to say that everyone is meant to minister from the pulpit.  There are different types of gifts, offices, and services.  The key is being where God would have you to be, doing exactly what He would have you to do.  Only then will you be most effective and productive in serving those around you.
